EarthQuaker Devices Data Corrupter Modulated Monophonic Harmonizing PLL - Guitar Synth | No Limit Guitar Co, Idaho Falls
The EarthQuaker Devices Data Corrupter is a monophonic analog harmonizing PLL with modulation that transforms your guitar into a wild three-voice synthesizer. This cyberpunk-inspired pedal takes your input signal and brutally amplifies it into a crushing square wave fuzz tone that is then multiplied, divided and modulated. Perfect for experimental guitarists seeking analog synthesized frequencies with pitch-bending capabilities and subharmonic intervals.
Product Overview
The Data Corrupter is a monophonic analog harmonizing PLL with modulation. It takes your input signal and brutally amplifies it into a crushing square wave fuzz tone that is then multiplied, divided and modulated to create a wild, yet repeatable, three-voice guitar synthesizer. This unique pedal transforms any guitar into a cyberpunk hive mind of analog synthesis and frequency manipulation.
The Master Oscillator is the central nervous system at the heart of the Data Corrupter's cyberpunk hive mind. It feeds your input to the signal harvester in its original octave (Unison), one octave down (-1) or two octaves down (-2) for maximum compatibility with your preferred instrument and frequency register. Once you've chosen your input octave, then the Data Corrupter will perform its calculations and spit out an analog synthesized frequency.
The synthesized frequency can be pitch-bent for portamento or vibrato sounds by the Frequency Modulator. From there, you can blend in one of eight Subharmonic intervals up to three octaves below the input and mix in a square wave fuzz tone for maximum data corruption. The result is a complex, multi-layered synthesizer effect that maintains the expressiveness of guitar playing while venturing into uncharted sonic territories.
Ideal For
- Experimental and ambient guitarists exploring analog synthesis and frequency manipulation
- Electronic music producers seeking guitar-driven synthesizer textures
- Post-rock and shoegaze musicians creating atmospheric soundscapes
- Sound designers requiring unique analog synthesized tones for scoring applications
- Progressive rock players incorporating synthesizer elements into guitar-driven compositions
Key Features
Master Oscillator System
The Master Oscillator is the central nervous system with eight-position rotary switch for interval selection and three-position Root switch (Unison, -1, -2 octaves). Performs calculations and generates analog synthesized frequencies with maximum compatibility across different instruments and frequency registers.
Frequency Modulator
Applies pitch-bend modulation to the Master Oscillator with Glide mode for smooth portamento between notes and Vibrato mode for retro sci-fi laser effects. Creates expressive pitch modulation that responds to playing dynamics and technique.
Subharmonic Generator
Assimilates the input signal into one of eight lower octave programs between one and three octaves below the original. Subharmonic Root Switch toggles between Unison (stable lower octaves) and Oscillator mode (sum and difference frequencies with modulation applied).
Three-Voice Synthesis
Creates wild, yet repeatable, three-voice guitar synthesizer combining Master Oscillator, Subharmonic intervals, and square wave fuzz. Voice Mixer controls blend levels of each component for precise sonic sculpting.
Analog Signal Processing
Monophonic analog harmonizing PLL circuitry maintains the organic character of analog synthesis while providing stable tracking and frequency generation. Square wave fuzz adds crushing distortion character to the synthesized frequencies.
