Martin Custom Shop 000-12F Acoustic Guitar - Sinker Redwood & Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood | No Limit Guitar Co, Idaho Falls

This Martin Custom Shop acoustic guitar — built on the classic 000/OM auditorium body platform and inspired by the legendary OM-28 style — features a rare sinker redwood top paired with wild grain East Indian rosewood back and sides for a tonal character that is both warm and articulate. Crafted by Martin's Custom Shop in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this instrument offers exceptional clarity, depth, and dynamic sensitivity suited for intermediate to professional fingerstyle and flatpicking players. Available exclusively at No Limit Guitar Co in Idaho Falls, this is a one-of-a-kind acoustic guitar built to exacting specifications.

Product Overview

The body is constructed with a premium-grade sinker redwood top — an aged, tonally mature tonewood prized for its complex harmonic response — over a two-piece wild grain East Indian rosewood back and sides, also upgraded to premium grade. The body is finished in a gloss treatment that highlights the natural beauty of these rare tonewoods, while European flamed maple binding adds a striking visual contrast. The rosette is a bold 3-ring herringbone with black maple fiber, evoking the vintage appointments of Martin's Golden Era instruments.

The neck is crafted from 12/4 genuine mahogany with a GE Modified Low Oval profile — a comfortable, slightly flattened shape that plays fast and sits naturally in the hand. A 16" fingerboard radius on the oiled black ebony fretboard provides a playing surface that is both smooth and responsive, while the 1-3/4" nut width at the nut and 2-1/4" width at the 12th fret offer a comfortable spread for fingerstyle technique. The slotted headstock with square slots and long diamond volute are classic Golden Era details, completed with an Old Style Gold small decal.

Hardware includes Grover Nickel H97-18NA Sta-Tite side-mounted tuning machines at an 18:1 gear ratio, a black ebony GE Modern Belly bridge with compensated bone saddle, and bone bridge pins and end pin with faux tortoise detailing. Strings are Martin Authentic Acoustic Lifespan 2.0 in a light gauge. A 5-ply hardshell case is included. This guitar ships with a Custom Shop Credentials Book documenting the build.

Key Features

Sinker Redwood Top Sinker redwood is a rare, aged tonewood recovered from historic log drives — its long grain maturity produces a warm, complex tone with excellent sustain and harmonic complexity that sets it apart from spruce or cedar alternatives.

Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood Back & Sides The premium-grade wild grain East Indian rosewood provides rich low-end warmth and sparkling high-end articulation, with the wild grain figuring making each guitar visually unique.

Golden Era Scalloped X-Brace The top is internally braced with Martin's Golden Era scalloped X-brace pattern (5/16" with 1/4" tone bars), a traditional construction method that maximizes top resonance and responsiveness to light touch playing.

Black Ebony Fingerboard and Bridge Both the fingerboard and bridge are crafted from oiled black ebony — one of the hardest and most durable tonewoods available — providing a smooth playing surface, precise intonation, and long-term stability.

Gloss Body / Satin Neck Finish The combination gloss body and satin neck finish strikes a perfect balance: the gloss highlights the beauty of the tonewoods while the satin neck allows the fretting hand to move freely without drag.
