The DGT (David Grissom Trem) represents over two decades of partnership between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom. This model is built on the McCarty platform and features a distinctive DGT neck profile, elevated frets, specialized pickups, and an updated control configuration. Grissom and Paul dedicated a year to A/B testing more than forty sets of pickups to achieve the vintage tone characteristic of the DGT humbuckers. With individual volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull master tone control that activates the coil taps, the DGT pickups offer exceptional versatility and clarity.

This instrument effortlessly produces a vintage warmth, clear high-end, responsive midrange, and well-rounded lows. It offers a fast and exceptionally comfortable playing experience, while the tremolo system operates smoothly and dependably. In accordance with Grissom's specifications, the guitar is factory set with 11-gauge strings, providing a richer tone and a more dynamic feel. However, the Grissom neck combined with the jumbo frets allows players to enjoy the tonal advantages of heavier strings without experiencing significant differences in playability or requiring additional effort.
