The PRS Silver Sky, crafted by Paul Reed Smith, was tailored to meet the specifications of John Mayer. This guitar, inspired by vintage designs, features a recognizable silhouette complemented by a striking contrasting tone in its cutaway scoop. The neck profile, scale length, and fingerboard radius are reminiscent of Mayer's early 1960s instruments; however, the inclusion of a modified PRS-style headstock and locking tuners firmly establishes its relevance in the modern era. When connected to a tube amplifier, its exquisite single-coil pickups produce bright, musical tones with remarkable clarity. Additionally, the Silver Sky is equipped with a bone nut, a molded metal jack plate, redesigned knobs, custom fret wire, and PRS's double-action truss rod.
