Schecter USA Custom Shop.
May 6th 2026
Most guitars are manufactured. Schecter USA Custom Shop guitars are built - one at a time, by hand, in a sun-baked workshop in Sun Valley, California, by luthiers who care about what they're putting their name on. These are not factory guitars with a fancier box. They are a completely different category of instrument.
And here's the thing: Schecter doesn't hand these out to just anyone. No Limit Guitar Co was named Schecter's 2025 Dealer of the Year for the Northwestern United States - and we're one of only a select few authorized Custom Shop dealers in the entire country. If you want to play one of these in person in this region, we're your best shot.
A little history
Schecter Guitar Research was founded in 1976 in Van Nuys, California as a parts supplier - the go-to source for premium components when guitarists wanted to upgrade their production instruments. They were building better parts than most guitar companies were putting in their complete guitars. By the early 1980s, they started making complete instruments, and the Custom Shop tradition was born. Fast-forward to today: that culture of uncompromising parts quality and hand-built craftsmanship lives on in Schecter's Sun Valley Custom Shop, where each guitar is individually constructed, inspected, and signed off before it leaves. Every USA Custom Shop guitar ships with a certificate of authenticity signed by Michael Ciravolo, President of Schecter Guitar Research - that's how seriously they take it. And in 2025, Schecter marked their 50th anniversary by building just 50 numbered instruments - the CET 50th Anniversary - each one a handcrafted collector's piece commemorating five decades of that legacy. We have one.
What sets them apart
Hand-Selected Tonewoods
Every Custom Shop guitar starts with tonewoods chosen by actual humans who know what they're looking for. Stabilized burl tops, 5A quilted maple, bird's-eye maple, swamp ash, black limba - these are not catalog specs, they're the result of someone physically picking the best piece in the pile. That selection process is audible in the finished instrument.
Fretwork That's Actually Flawless
Production guitar fretwork is a known weak point - even on expensive instruments. Not here. Schecter USA Custom Shop guitars use Jescar Extra-Jumbo Stainless Steel frets, and the leveling, crowning, and end-dressing is done by hand to a standard that makes the playing surface feel like a musical instrument is supposed to feel. No sharp edges. No dead spots. Just a perfectly smooth ride from the nut to the 24th fret.
Premium Necks, Built for Speed
5-ply maple/walnut laminated neck construction with carbon fiber reinforcement rods. Roasted maple options. Wenge with Macassar ebony boards. These neck constructions eliminate dead spots, resist seasonal movement, and feel dramatically more stable than a plain maple neck. Combined with the stainless frets, the result is a playing surface serious players can immediately feel the difference in.
USA Custom Pickups
Brimstone humbuckers with proprietary Carbon-Barium magnets. Pasadena Combo pairings. Signature-specific Nick Johnston NJ SubAtomic and Atombucker sets. Schecter's Custom Shop pickup program isn't a licensing deal - these are wound specifically for these guitars, often model-by-model. The difference in harmonic response and passive headroom compared to stock pickups is immediately noticeable.
Finishes That Turn Heads
Burgundy Noir Eclipse with flame maple. Aged nitrocellulose in Sonic Blue or Atomic Orange with lacquer checking. Black & White Swirl. Stabilized burl in natural satin - where no two tops are even close to alike. These are not production colors. These are Custom Shop finishes applied by craftspeople, and they look nothing like anything you'll find hanging on a wall in a chain store.
Hardware That Holds
Hipshot bridges. Schecter/Hipshot staggered locking tuners. Floyd Rose double-locking systems on the FR models. Gotoh 510 hardware. This is not value-tier hardware - it's the same spec you'd find on guitars costing significantly more, chosen because it works and holds intonation under real playing conditions.

CET 50th Anniversary
Golden Anniversary · #13 out of 50
This is the one. To mark Schecter's 50th year in business, the Custom Shop hand-built exactly 50 numbered guitars - and this is #13. The CET 50th Anniversary starts with an ultra-light swamp ash body topped with a 5A quilted maple cap and a walnut center accent strip, finished in the exclusive Golden Anniversary colorway. The roasted maple neck pairs with a 5-way blade switch controlling custom-voiced SuperRock and Monstertone 50th Anniversary humbuckers with coil-splitting pull pots. Gotoh 510 bridge, Schecter Hipshot staggered locking tuners, brass dot inlays, Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side markers. Numbered. Signed. One of fifty in the world.
Sunset Extreme 7
Natural Satin Stabilized Burl Top
This is one of the most visually intense guitars we've ever had on the floor. The stabilized burl top is a one-of-a-kind piece - no two are even close to identical. Swamp ash body, 5-ply maple/walnut neck, Jescar 57110S extra-jumbo stainless steel frets, Brimstone H/H pickups, Hipshot bridge. Built for the player who wants extended range without sacrificing beauty or build quality. Comes with COA signed by Michael Ciravolo.
Sunset Extreme FR HS
Burgundy Noir Eclipse · Floyd Rose
This is the actual guitar that was on display at NAMM 2026 in Anaheim. We loved it so much we ordered it. Flame maple top over alder, 5-ply maple/walnut neck, Richlite fingerboard, Brimstone H/S pickups, genuine Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo, and 24 Jescar 57110S extra-jumbo stainless frets. The Burgundy Noir Eclipse finish on flame maple is jaw-dropping in person. Comes with COA signed by Michael Ciravolo.
PT Custom HH
Trans Sky Blue · Flamed Maple Top
The PT is Schecter's T-style platform, and this Custom Shop version takes it somewhere production instruments can't go. Trans Sky Blue over a flame maple cap on an alder body - the flame figure shows right through the finish and it is stunning. Schecter Pasadena Combo humbuckers, C-profile maple neck, and the sort of fit and finish you only get when a real person spent real time on it. This is a guitar built for the player who knows what they want.
PT Wembley Studio
Shell Pink Aged Nitro · S/S/H
A completely different side of the USA Custom Shop - vintage-inspired, nitro-finished, and built with the kind of detail that makes old guitars feel like old guitars. Shell Pink aged nitrocellulose finish with authentic lacquer checking, roasted maple neck, and an S/S/H pickup setup (VT-1 and VS-1 single-coils plus a Route '57 humbucker) covering everything from classic sparkle to warm humbucker drive. Vintage PT bridge, aged nickel hardware. This one is for the player who knows that the best-sounding guitars don't always look like metal machines.
