Martin HD-28 Semiquincentennial Limited Edition Acoustic Guitar
The Martin HD-28 Semiquincentennial is a limited-edition dreadnought honoring 250 years of American independence, now available at No Limit Guitar Co in Idaho Falls. Built on the classic HD-28 platform, it delivers the deep bass, rich overtones, and powerful projection the model is known for, plus genuine Revolutionary-era wood in its appointments. Only 250 were made, making it a true heirloom for serious players and collectors.
Product Overview
This guitar features wood from the Basking Ridge white oak, a roughly 600-year-old New Jersey tree that witnessed the Revolutionary War. Washington’s troops are said to have drilled nearby, and the general himself reportedly picnicked beneath it with Lafayette. Martin used this historic oak for the endpiece, the heelcap, and a Liberty Bell inlay on the headplate.
The reclaimed Sitka spruce top displays custom ink artwork by Martin artist Robert Goetzl, framed by bold herringbone purfling and a Style 28 rosette. East Indian rosewood back and sides add warmth and complex overtones, finished with HD zig-zag back purfling and antique white binding. Forward-shifted, Golden Era-scalloped X-bracing gives the guitar its booming bass and open, responsive voice.
The neck has Martin’s GE Modified Low Oval shape with a High-Performance Taper, a 1-3/4" nut width, and a 25.4" scale. An ebony fingerboard features the exclusive Semiquincentennial star inlays in paua and mother-of-pearl. Bone nut, saddle, and bridge pins, nickel open-gear tuners, and an ebony bridge complete this traditional dreadnought. It weighs just 4.54 lbs.

Key Features
Historic Basking Ridge White Oak
Wood from a centuries-old tree tied to the American Revolution is used in the endpiece, heelcap, and headplate inlay. It puts a tangible piece of history in your hands.
Robert Goetzl Artwork Top
The reclaimed Sitka spruce top features original ink artwork by Martin artist Robert Goetzl. It’s both a working soundboard and a work of art.
Forward-Shifted Scalloped X-Bracing
Golden Era-style scalloped bracing in a forward-shifted pattern lets the top move freely. The result is deep bass, strong volume, and a vibrant, open voice.
East Indian Rosewood Back and Sides
Rosewood adds warmth, sparkling highs, and complex overtones. Herringbone purfling and zig-zag back strip give it the classic HD-28 look.
Semiquincentennial Star Inlays and Liberty Bell Headplate
Paua and mother-of-pearl star inlays line the ebony fingerboard. The headplate features a bronze and white oak Liberty Bell inlay below the Martin script logo.
