PRS Silver Sky Electric Guitar - Black Plum Satin | Idaho Falls
The PRS Silver Sky electric guitar is John Mayer’s signature take on the vintage single-coil instrument, now available at No Limit Guitar Co in Idaho Falls. It pairs the warm, round voice of an early-’60s guitar with the precision and stability of a modern PRS build. Intermediate players will find it inspiring, and working professionals will find it stage-ready.
Product Overview
The Silver Sky starts with a solid alder body and a bolt-on, scarfed maple neck, finished here in Black Plum Satin nitro. The thin satin nitrocellulose finish feels broken-in from day one and lets the guitar resonate freely. Nickel hardware adds a classic look against the deep plum color.
This model features the 635JM-R neck shape, with shoulders subtly rounded for a comfortable, played-in feel. The rosewood fretboard has a vintage 7.25" radius, 22 PRS medium frets, and the signature small bird inlays. A bone nut and PRS vintage-style locking tuners keep tuning stable, and the inverted PRS headstock keeps string lengths behind the nut consistent for better tuning stability.
Three 635JM single-coil pickups deliver a full, rounded tone with a musical high end that never turns harsh. The PRS steel tremolo, with Gen III knife-edge screws, sits flush against the body. That extra contact makes the guitar acoustically louder and improves the signal-to-noise ratio of the single-coils.
Ideal For
- Blues and soul players chasing warm, glassy single-coil tones with a sweet top end
- John Mayer fans looking for an authentic John Mayer signature guitar built to his exact specs
- Working musicians who need a vintage-style single-coil guitar that stays in tune night after night
- Session and home recording players who want quiet, articulate single-coil pickups
- Players upgrading to a professional-grade alder body electric guitar with a broken-in feel
Key Features
635JM Single-Coil Pickups
Three custom 635JM pickups give round, full-bodied tone across all five switch positions. The high end stays musical and clear, never brittle or ice-picky.
Flush-Mounted PRS Steel Tremolo
The tremolo sits flat against the body and only bends down in pitch. This increases body contact for more acoustic volume, sustain, and a cleaner signal.
635JM-R Neck Profile and 7.25" Radius
The rosewood-fretboard neck has slightly rounded shoulders that fill the hand comfortably. The vintage 7.25" radius makes chords and rhythm work feel effortless.
Vintage-Style Locking Tuners and Bone Nut
Closed-back tuners keep the vintage look while PRS’s locking design simplifies string changes and holds tuning. The bone nut adds clarity and smooth string travel.
Satin Nitro Finish
The Black Plum Satin nitrocellulose finish is thin and smooth with a played-in feel. It ages naturally over time, just like a vintage instrument.
