Sadowsky MetroExpress 21-Fret Vintage J/J Bass - Tobacco Burst Gloss
The Sadowsky MetroExpress 21-Fret Vintage J/J Bass brings Sadowsky’s legendary tone and playability to a more accessible price point, now available at No Limit Guitar Co in Idaho Falls. Two shielded J-style pickups and the famous Sadowsky onboard preamp deliver everything from vintage thump to modern punch. It’s a serious instrument for ambitious beginners and working bassists alike.
Product Overview
This MetroExpress features an okoume body cut in Sadowsky’s classic doublecut shape, finished in a high-polish Tobacco Sunburst. Okoume is lightweight and resonant, giving the bass a warm, even foundation. This example weighs a comfortable 8.5 lbs.
The bolt-on roasted maple neck has a smooth natural oil finish that stays fast under your hand. A matching roasted maple fingerboard carries 21 nickel-silver frets on a 12" radius, with a standard 34" scale. Roasting adds stability against seasonal humidity changes, which matters for a bass that travels to gigs year-round.
Two Sadowsky passive shielded single-coil J pickups provide classic J-bass growl and are hum-canceling when used together. The 2-band Sadowsky preamp adds bass and treble boost, and a push-pull pot switches between active and passive modes. Sadowsky’s adjustable Just-A-Nut and quick-release bridge round out a thoughtful, player-focused design.
Ideal For
- Funk, R&B, and gospel bassists after the punchy, polished Sadowsky active tone
- Gigging players who need a J-style bass that switches between passive vintage tone and active punch
- Students ready to upgrade to a professional-quality 4-string bass guitar
- Studio bassists wanting quiet, hum-free pickups for clean recordings
- Players searching for the best J-style bass under $2,000 with boutique-level electronics
Key Features
Sadowsky 2-Band Active Preamp
The legendary Sadowsky preamp adds bass and treble boost for extra punch and clarity. A push-pull pot lets you bypass it for pure passive tone.
Shielded J-Style Pickups
Two Sadowsky single-coil J pickups deliver vintage growl and articulate attack. Full shielding and hum-canceling operation keep your signal quiet.
Roasted Maple Neck and Fingerboard
Roasted maple resists warping and seasonal movement while offering a snappy, focused tone. The oil-finished neck feels smooth and fast for quick runs.
Just-A-Nut and Quick-Release Bridge
Sadowsky’s Just-A-Nut lets you adjust nut height with a simple screw turn. The quick-release bridge makes string changes and setup adjustments easy.
Lightweight Okoume Body
The okoume body keeps the bass comfortable during long sets without sacrificing resonance. The high-polish Tobacco Sunburst finish gives it a timeless look.
