This Silver Sky has a maple neck and maple fretboard, carved in the original 635JM neck shape developed from vintage guitars and Mayer’s own stage testing. The fretboard has small bird inlays, 22 frets, a vintage 7.25" radius, and a 25.5" scale. A bone nut and PRS’s front-access double-acting truss rod make setup simple.

The 635JM pickups sound round and full, with chiming highs and strong note definition. They’re quieter than typical vintage single-coils, and the in-between positions cancel hum.
